Everyone has feelings โ even grown-ups, even your teachers, even kings and queens.
There are no "bad" feelings. Even feeling angry, sad, jealous or scared is OK. What matters is what you DO with the feeling.
Today we'll learn how to spot a feeling, what to do when one gets really big, and who to talk to when you need help.
Feelings live in your body as well as your head. See if you can guess where:
Noticing the feeling in your body is the FIRST clue that you're feeling it.
Sometimes a feeling gets SO BIG it feels like it's going to burst out. Here's a magic trick grown-ups use too:
Your heart slows down. Your tummy loosens. The big feeling shrinks a bit.
Try it now! Smell the flower โ blow the candle โ three times.
A trusted grown-up is a grown-up who:
Trusted grown-ups can be: parents, grandparents, aunties or uncles, teachers, teaching assistants, doctors, the police, lunch supervisors. You can have LOTS of them โ that's a good thing.
This is REALLY important.
You will never be in trouble for telling. Even if the secret is about a grown-up. Even if they told you not to.
The internet has wonderful things on it. It also has things that aren't for children. So we have FOUR online rules:
Some apps and games are not for under-7s. That's a grown-up's job to manage โ not yours.
Hold up your hand. You have five fingers โ and you need five trusted grown-ups to tell if something is wrong.
Write or draw your five on the activity book page when you're ready.
If you are in danger right now and there's no grown-up nearby, dial 999.
You finished this lesson. You worked hard and learned something new today. ๐
