What KS3 covers

Key Stage 3 runs through Years 7 to 9 in secondary school. Pupils study up to 14 subjects across the curriculum.

A critical transition

There are no statutory national tests at the end of KS3 — progress is measured through internal school assessments. However, the end of Year 9 is when pupils choose their GCSE options, deciding which subjects they’ll drop and which they’ll continue with for KS4.
