How to check the work
Ask the learner to show or explain one idea, then try a fresh example with suitable support. Note any prompts needed; retelling alone does not show secure understanding.

How to study with Chemistry (Eduqas) — Module 5: Energy & rates
This parent guide connects the page examples with a structured study routine. The current resource is labelled Chemistry, GCSE, Year 10, Year 11, E-Learning Module. Use that context, the learning summary and published prompts to decide what sound work should reveal.
Prepare a focused session
Read the title and learning focus side by side. Ask the learner to spot the understanding, vocabulary or technique they may need. Scan each sample and spot command words, values, hints, constraints or less familiar terms. Agree a focused time window, reduce diversions and collect suitable materials such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an independent initial attempt so the response reveals sound understanding and uncertainty. A short pause often aids recall better than an instant answer.
Make thinking shown
Invite the learner to summarise the task in their own words. They can underline essential information, separate a larger problem into smaller steps, design a representation, organise details, rehearse a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their method fits and whether another plan could work. When progress stops, offer a staged hint: repeat the goal, point towards a related example, reduce the choice, then model only the next step. Return control immediately afterwards. Spoken reasoning highlights mistakes and practises accurate subject language.
Check accuracy and understanding
Compare the attempt with shown answer guidance after genuine effort. Inspect more than the final response: review the method, explanation, units, details, sequence, spelling or presentation where related. Ask the learner to locate the initial point where their reasoning changed path. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or separate space, followed by a short description of the change. For a correct answer, ask for justification and one independent check. This distinguishes assured understanding from guessing while developing accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.
Consolidate and extend
Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the central idea, process or fact again. Create one small alternative by changing a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a similar question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one clear next step, perhaps returning to terminology, practising a calculation, adding details or improving clarity. Recheck that target again in the week because spaced review gives better information than instant repetition.
The interactive player, downloadable file and make answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide aids preparation, discussion and review.
Sample questions and answers
Try five questions from this exact activity. Review each authored answer and explanation, then note which ideas need another look. Compare the options and explain why the answer fits. Say the reasoning aloud or write a short justification before opening the interactive player to complete the activity and save progress.
