Improvising & Composing KS2

Improvising & Composing KS2 is a five-mission music activity book mapped to the DfE National Curriculum for Key Stage 2 Music. Children learn to improvise (make music up on the spot) and compose (create and keep a piece), shaping their music with the interrelated elements — pulse and beat, rhythm, pitch, dynamics and tempo. They meet the ostinato (a repeated pattern or riff), write simple graphic scores with their own symbols, give a piece a clear structure of beginning, middle and end, and choose tuned and untuned percussion to perform.
