How to check the work
Ask the learner to show or explain one idea, then try a fresh example with suitable support. Note any prompts needed; retelling alone does not show secure understanding.

How to study with Edexcel GCSE Maths — Module 2: Fractions, decimals & percentages
This parent guide links the page examples with a usable study routine. The listed resource is labelled Mathematics, GCSE, Year 10, Year 11, E-Learning Module. Use that context, the learning summary and published prompts to decide what sound work should show.
Prepare a focused session
Read the title and learning focus jointly. Ask the learner to anticipate the knowledge, language or technique they may need. Scan each sample and spot action words, amounts, signals, conditions or unfamiliar terms. Agree a focused time window, remove distractions and prepare appropriate tools such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an unaided initial attempt so the work indicates sound understanding and gaps. A short pause often strengthens remembering better than an same-session answer.
Make thinking published
Invite the learner to describe the task in their own words. They can underline key information, break a larger problem into shorter steps, sketch a diagram, organise support, compose a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their route fits and whether another strategy could work. When progress stops, give a carefully scaled hint: state again the goal, point towards a related example, reduce the choice, then model only the next step. Return ownership straight afterwards. Spoken reasoning highlights mistakes and practises precise subject language.
Check accuracy and understanding
Compare the attempt with published answer guidance after honest effort. Inspect more than the final work: review the method, explanation, units, support, sequence, spelling or presentation where related. Ask the learner to find the initial point where their reasoning changed direction. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or fresh space, followed by a short description of the change. For a correct answer, seek support and one unaided check. This distinguishes secure knowledge from guessing while strengthening accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.
Consolidate and extend
Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the central idea, process or fact again. Create one small adaptation by altering a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a related question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one precise next step, perhaps returning to terminology, repeating a calculation, adding support or improving clarity. Recheck that target again in the week because spaced review gives stronger information than same-session repetition.
The interactive player, downloadable file and note answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide strengthens preparation, discussion and review.
Sample questions and answers
Try five questions from this exact activity. Review each authored answer and explanation, then note which ideas need another look. Compare the options and explain why the answer fits. Say the reasoning aloud or write a short justification before opening the interactive player to complete the activity and save progress.
