How to check the work
Ask the learner to show or explain one idea, then try a fresh example with suitable support. Note any prompts needed; retelling alone does not show secure understanding.
How to study with EYFS Physical Development — Module 6: Keeping safe & active
This parent guide relates the page examples with a structured study routine. The present resource is labelled Physical Development, Early Years (EYFS), Nursery, Reception, E-Learning Module. Use that context, the learning summary and published prompts to decide what successful work should reveal.
Prepare a focused session
Read the title and learning focus together. Ask the learner to predict the knowledge, vocabulary or method they may need. Scan each sample and spot action words, quantities, clues, constraints or unfamiliar terms. Agree a focused time window, reduce interruptions and gather useful equipment such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an self-directed first attempt so the attempt indicates secure understanding and uncertainty. A short pause often supports remembering better than an immediate answer.
Make thinking published
Invite the learner to describe the task in their own words. They can underline necessary information, break a complex problem into individual steps, draw a model, sort support, rehearse a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their method fits and whether another strategy could work. When progress stops, provide a staged hint: rephrase the goal, point towards a relevant example, reduce the choice, then model only the next step. Return ownership directly afterwards. Spoken reasoning highlights misconceptions and practises correct subject language.
Check accuracy and understanding
Compare the attempt with published answer guidance after honest effort. Inspect more than the final attempt: review the method, explanation, units, support, sequence, spelling or presentation where relevant. Ask the learner to locate the first point where their reasoning changed path. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or new space, followed by a short description of the correction. For a correct answer, request support and one self-directed check. This separates assured knowledge from guessing while developing accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.
Consolidate and extend
Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the main idea, process or fact again. Create one small adaptation by altering a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a similar question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one clear next step, perhaps revisiting terminology, repeating a calculation, adding support or refining clarity. Recheck that target later in the week because spaced review gives stronger information than immediate repetition.
The interactive player, downloadable file and note answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide supports preparation, discussion and review.
Sample questions and answers
Try five questions from this exact activity. Review each authored answer and explanation, then note which ideas need another look. Compare the options and explain why the answer fits. Say the reasoning aloud or write a short justification before opening the interactive player to complete the activity and save progress.
