How to check the work
Ask the learner to show or explain one idea, then try a fresh example with suitable support. Note any prompts needed; retelling alone does not show secure understanding.

How to study with GCSE Business — Module 4: Business finance
This parent guide links the page examples with a practical study routine. The current resource is labelled Business, GCSE, Year 10, Year 11, E-Learning Module. Use that framework, the learning summary and published prompts to decide what effective work should reveal.
Prepare a focused session
Read the title and learning focus side by side. Ask the learner to recognise the knowledge, language or method they may need. Scan each sample and recognise instruction words, values, signals, limits or unfamiliar terms. Agree a focused time window, remove distractions and gather appropriate tools such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an self-directed first attempt so the work reveals firm understanding and doubt. A brief pause often supports retrieval better than an same-session answer.
Make thinking shown
Invite the learner to restate the task in their own words. They can underline necessary information, divide a larger problem into smaller steps, sketch a representation, organise evidence, rehearse a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their route fits and whether another method could work. When movement stops, give a graduated hint: repeat the goal, point towards a related example, limit the choice, then show only the next step. Return ownership immediately afterwards. Spoken reasoning exposes mistakes and practises correct subject language.
Check accuracy and understanding
Compare the attempt with shown answer guidance after honest effort. Inspect more than the final work: review the method, explanation, units, evidence, sequence, spelling or presentation where related. Ask the learner to find the first point where their reasoning changed course. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or fresh space, followed by a brief account of the improvement. For a correct answer, request justification and one self-directed check. This distinguishes assured knowledge from guessing while strengthening accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.
Consolidate and extend
Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the main idea, process or fact again. Create one small variation by altering a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a related question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one specific next step, perhaps revisiting terminology, repeating a calculation, adding evidence or refining clarity. Recheck that target later in the week because spaced review gives clearer information than same-session repetition.
