GCSE Computer Science Workbook

The GCSE Computer Science Workbook is a five-mission revision activity book covering the board-neutral core shared by AQA, Edexcel, OCR and WJEC Eduqas. Students revise systems architecture (the CPU, the fetch-decode-execute cycle, the ALU and control unit, registers, cache, RAM and ROM, and clock speed), data representation (bits and bytes, binary, denary and hexadecimal conversions, ASCII, and lossy versus lossless compression), networks and security (LAN and WAN, packets, protocols such as TCP/IP and HTTP, IP and MAC addresses, malware, phishing, firewalls and encryption), and algorithms, programming and Boolean logic (linear and binary search, bubble and merge sort, data types, sequence, selection and iteration, and AND, OR and NOT truth tables), plus ethical, legal and environmental issues. Missions 1–4 are auto-marked on screen, or the whole book prints with a full answer key. Includes teacher, parent and student notes and is fully SEND-friendly with high-contrast and large-text modes.

What you'll learn

  • AQA โ€” Computer Science
  • Edexcel โ€” Computer Science
  • OCR โ€” Computer Science
  • WJEC Eduqas โ€” Computer Science

Inside this resource

  • 5 printable pages
  • Answer key included

For the student โ€” how to do this

You're going to work through five Computer Science missions covering the CPU, binary and hexadecimal, networks, and algorithms and logic. Answer on screen and I'll check it straight away, or print the book and solve it on paper. Use place-value columns for the number conversions and check each digit.

For parents and carers

This is a GCSE (Year 10–11) Computer Science revision book built around the core content shared by the main exam boards. You don't need to know the subject yourself — sit alongside your child, use the answer key, and ask them to explain one idea back to you, which is a powerful way to revise.

For teachers and tutors

A five-mission GCSE Computer Science revision book on the board-neutral core (AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC Eduqas): systems architecture and the fetch-decode-execute cycle, data representation including binary/denary/hexadecimal conversions and compression, networks, protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and security, and algorithms, programming constructs and Boolean logic, plus ethical, legal and environmental issues. Missions 1–4 are auto-marked; Mission 5 is an open revision-planning and ethics task. Suitable for independent revision, homework or a mock warm-up.

How to check the work

Most pages are checked with the "Check my answers" button, which marks every response, including the binary, denary and hexadecimal conversions, and gives feedback. Mission 5 is open-ended and is not auto-marked — check it against the answer sheet notes.
