How to check the work
Ask the learner to show or explain one idea, then try a fresh example with suitable support. Note any prompts needed; retelling alone does not show secure understanding.

How to study with GCSE German — Module 2: Free time & hobbies
This parent guide links the page examples with a structured study routine. The listed resource is labelled German, GCSE, Year 10, Year 11, E-Learning Module. Use that framework, the learning summary and published prompts to agree what effective work should reveal.
Prepare a focused session
Read the title and learning focus side by side. Ask the learner to anticipate the knowledge, terminology or technique they may need. Scan each sample and spot instruction words, values, hints, constraints or unfamiliar terms. Agree a manageable time window, clear diversions and prepare appropriate materials such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an self-directed initial attempt so the attempt shows firm understanding and doubt. A quiet pause often supports recall better than an instant answer.
Make thinking published
Invite the learner to describe the task in their own words. They can underline necessary information, divide a larger problem into shorter steps, draw a model, sort details, compose a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their route fits and whether another plan could work. When movement stops, offer a graduated hint: rephrase the goal, point towards a related example, limit the choice, then model only the next step. Return ownership immediately afterwards. Spoken reasoning reveals mistakes and practises accurate subject language.
Check accuracy and understanding
Compare the attempt with published answer guidance after sustained effort. Inspect more than the final attempt: review the method, explanation, units, details, sequence, spelling or presentation where related. Ask the learner to identify the initial point where their reasoning changed direction. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or separate space, followed by a brief account of the correction. For a correct answer, ask for justification and one self-directed check. This differentiates assured knowledge from guessing while developing accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.
Consolidate and extend
Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the core idea, process or fact again. Create one small alternative by adjusting a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a similar question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one clear next step, perhaps revisiting terminology, practising a calculation, adding details or improving clarity. Recheck that target again in the week because spaced review gives clearer information than instant repetition.
The interactive player, downloadable file and record answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide supports preparation, discussion and review.
Sample questions and answers
