How to check the work
Ask the learner to show or explain one idea, then try a fresh example with suitable support. Note any prompts needed; retelling alone does not show secure understanding.

How to study with GCSE German — Module 4: Home & local area
This parent guide connects the page examples with a practical study routine. The current resource is labelled German, GCSE, Year 10, Year 11, E-Learning Module. Use that context, the learning summary and published prompts to clarify what secure work should show.
Prepare a focused session
Read the title and learning focus jointly. Ask the learner to predict the understanding, terminology or plan they may need. Scan each sample and identify instruction words, amounts, clues, constraints or unfamiliar terms. Agree a realistic time window, remove interruptions and collect appropriate materials such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an unaided first attempt so the work indicates secure understanding and gaps. A quiet pause often supports recall better than an same-session answer.
Make thinking published
Invite the learner to summarise the task in their own words. They can underline necessary information, separate a complex problem into shorter steps, sketch a diagram, sort evidence, compose a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their approach fits and whether another plan could work. When progress stops, offer a staged hint: state again the goal, point towards a useful example, limit the choice, then demonstrate only the next step. Return control immediately afterwards. Spoken reasoning exposes mistakes and practises accurate subject language.
Check accuracy and understanding
Compare the attempt with published answer guidance after genuine effort. Inspect more than the final work: review the method, explanation, units, evidence, sequence, spelling or presentation where useful. Ask the learner to find the first point where their reasoning changed path. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or separate space, followed by a short description of the correction. For a correct answer, ask for justification and one unaided check. This separates confident understanding from guessing while building accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.
Consolidate and extend
Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the main idea, process or fact again. Create one small alternative by changing a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a related question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one clear next step, perhaps revisiting terminology, practising a calculation, adding evidence or improving clarity. Recheck that target again in the week because spaced review gives clearer information than same-session repetition.
The interactive player, downloadable file and capture answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide supports preparation, discussion and review.
Sample questions and answers
Try five questions from this exact activity. Review each authored answer and explanation, then note which ideas need another look. Compare the options and explain why the answer fits. Say the reasoning aloud or write a short justification before opening the interactive player to complete the activity and save progress.
