How to check the work
Ask the learner to show or explain one idea, then try a fresh example with suitable support. Note any prompts needed; retelling alone does not show secure understanding.

How to study with GCSE History — Module 4: World War Two
This parent guide relates the page examples with a usable study routine. The current resource is labelled History, GCSE, Year 10, Year 11, E-Learning Module. Use that framework, the learning summary and published prompts to agree what effective work should show.
Prepare a focused session
Read the title and learning focus together. Ask the learner to spot the knowledge, terminology or strategy they may need. Scan each sample and spot instruction words, quantities, clues, limits or new terms. Agree a manageable time window, remove interruptions and collect appropriate tools such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an independent first attempt so the attempt reveals secure understanding and doubt. A quiet pause often supports retrieval better than an instant answer.
Make thinking published
Invite the learner to summarise the task in their own words. They can underline essential information, separate a complex problem into individual steps, create a diagram, sort details, compose a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their route fits and whether another strategy could work. When movement stops, provide a carefully scaled hint: state again the goal, point towards a useful example, narrow the choice, then model only the next step. Return responsibility directly afterwards. Spoken reasoning highlights misconceptions and practises accurate subject language.
Check accuracy and understanding
Compare the attempt with published answer guidance after honest effort. Inspect more than the final attempt: review the method, explanation, units, details, sequence, spelling or presentation where useful. Ask the learner to identify the first point where their reasoning changed path. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or fresh space, followed by a brief note of the correction. For a correct answer, ask for support and one independent check. This differentiates assured knowledge from guessing while developing accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.
Consolidate and extend
Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the central idea, process or fact again. Create one small variation by adjusting a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a comparable question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one precise next step, perhaps returning to terminology, practising a calculation, adding details or improving clarity. Recheck that target later in the week because spaced review gives better information than instant repetition.
The interactive player, downloadable file and make answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide supports preparation, discussion and review.
Sample questions and answers
Try five questions from this exact activity. Review each authored answer and explanation, then note which ideas need another look. Compare the options and explain why the answer fits. Say the reasoning aloud or write a short justification before opening the interactive player to complete the activity and save progress.
