How to check the work
Use any on-screen review after the quiz to discuss one response and a next step. A saved score or time is not a saved mistake-by-mistake report.

How to study with KS1 Art Design — KS1 Art & Design (Years 1–2) — Gated Series — Module 7: Consolidation Test (timed)
This parent guide connects the page examples with a usable study routine. The present resource is labelled Art & Design, Key Stage 1, Year 1, Year 2, Quiz. Use that context, the learning summary and published prompts to agree what successful work should demonstrate.
Prepare a focused session
Read the title and learning focus side by side. Ask the learner to spot the understanding, vocabulary or technique they may need. Scan each sample and spot action words, amounts, hints, limits or new terms. Agree a manageable time window, clear diversions and collect appropriate equipment such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an independent initial attempt so the attempt reveals firm understanding and gaps. A quiet pause often aids remembering better than an same-session answer.
Make thinking shown
Invite the learner to restate the task in their own words. They can underline essential information, break a extended problem into shorter steps, draw a representation, sort support, practise a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their method fits and whether another method could work. When progress stops, offer a graduated hint: state again the goal, point towards a related example, narrow the choice, then demonstrate only the next step. Return ownership directly afterwards. Spoken reasoning reveals confusions and practises accurate subject language.
Check accuracy and understanding
Compare the attempt with shown answer guidance after genuine effort. Inspect more than the final attempt: review the method, explanation, units, support, sequence, spelling or presentation where related. Ask the learner to find the initial point where their reasoning changed path. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or fresh space, followed by a brief account of the improvement. For a correct answer, request reasoning and one independent check. This differentiates secure understanding from guessing while building accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.
Consolidate and extend
Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the central idea, process or fact again. Create one small alternative by changing a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a related question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one precise next step, perhaps reviewing terminology, practising a calculation, adding support or improving clarity. Recheck that target again in the week because spaced review gives better information than same-session repetition.
The interactive player, downloadable file and note answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide aids preparation, discussion and review.
