How to check the work
Ask the learner to show or explain one idea, then try a fresh example with suitable support. Note any prompts needed; retelling alone does not show secure understanding.

How to study with KS1 Maths — Module 5: Measurement
This parent guide links the page examples with a usable study routine. The listed resource is labelled Mathematics, Key Stage 1, Year 1, Year 2, E-Learning Module. Use that context, the learning summary and published prompts to agree what sound work should demonstrate.
Prepare a focused session
Read the title and learning focus side by side. Ask the learner to identify the ideas, language or technique they may need. Scan each sample and identify command words, values, hints, constraints or unfamiliar terms. Agree a focused time window, reduce distractions and collect useful tools such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an self-directed first attempt so the response shows sound understanding and uncertainty. A reflective pause often aids retrieval better than an immediate answer.
Make thinking visible
Invite the learner to summarise the task in their own words. They can underline key information, divide a complex problem into individual steps, draw a representation, organise support, practise a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their approach fits and whether another plan could work. When work stops, give a graduated hint: rephrase the goal, point towards a useful example, limit the choice, then demonstrate only the next step. Return control directly afterwards. Spoken reasoning highlights confusions and practises accurate subject language.
Check accuracy and understanding
Compare the attempt with visible answer guidance after sustained effort. Inspect more than the final response: review the method, explanation, units, support, sequence, spelling or presentation where useful. Ask the learner to locate the first point where their reasoning changed direction. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or separate space, followed by a brief account of the correction. For a correct answer, seek justification and one self-directed check. This distinguishes confident ideas from guessing while strengthening accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.
Consolidate and extend
Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the core idea, process or fact again. Create one small adaptation by changing a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a related question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one precise next step, perhaps returning to terminology, rehearsing a calculation, adding support or improving clarity. Recheck that target afterwards in the week because spaced review gives stronger information than immediate repetition.
The interactive player, downloadable file and note answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide aids preparation, discussion and review.
Sample questions and answers
Try five questions from this exact activity. Review each authored answer and explanation, then note which ideas need another look. Compare the options and explain why the answer fits. Say the reasoning aloud or write a short justification before opening the interactive player to complete the activity and save progress.
