How to check the work
Ask the learner to show or explain one idea, then try a fresh example with suitable support. Note any prompts needed; retelling alone does not show secure understanding.

How to study with KS1 Music — Module 3: Pitch — high & low
This parent guide connects the page examples with a usable study routine. The listed resource is labelled Music, Key Stage 1, Year 1, Year 2, E-Learning Module. Use that framework, the learning summary and published prompts to agree what successful work should reveal.
Prepare a focused session
Read the title and learning focus together. Ask the learner to spot the knowledge, language or strategy they may need. Scan each sample and spot command words, quantities, hints, constraints or less familiar terms. Agree a manageable time window, remove distractions and gather suitable equipment such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an independent first attempt so the attempt reveals secure understanding and uncertainty. A concise pause often strengthens recall better than an instant answer.
Make thinking shown
Invite the learner to restate the task in their own words. They can underline necessary information, break a complex problem into individual steps, create a demonstrate, arrange details, rehearse a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their method fits and whether another strategy could work. When work stops, give a graduated hint: rephrase the goal, point towards a relevant example, narrow the choice, then demonstrate only the next step. Return control directly afterwards. Spoken reasoning highlights misconceptions and practises accurate subject language.
Check accuracy and understanding
Compare the attempt with shown answer guidance after honest effort. Inspect more than the final attempt: review the method, explanation, units, details, sequence, spelling or presentation where relevant. Ask the learner to identify the first point where their reasoning changed direction. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or fresh space, followed by a concise account of the improvement. For a correct answer, request reasoning and one independent check. This differentiates assured knowledge from guessing while strengthening accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.
Consolidate and extend
Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the main idea, process or fact again. Create one small alternative by altering a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a similar question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one specific next step, perhaps returning to terminology, practising a calculation, adding details or refining clarity. Recheck that target again in the week because spaced review gives stronger information than instant repetition.
The interactive player, downloadable file and make answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide strengthens preparation, discussion and review.
Sample questions and answers
Try five questions from this exact activity. Review each authored answer and explanation, then note which ideas need another look. Compare the options and explain why the answer fits. Say the reasoning aloud or write a short justification before opening the interactive player to complete the activity and save progress.
