For parents and carers

Each module unlocks the next only when your child passes at 80%. A pass meets the threshold for this check. Use discussion and further practice to identify what needs revisiting.

For teachers and tutors

Gated revision sequence. Pass mark 80%; results and per-question review feed the heatmap.

How to check the work

Ask the learner to show or explain one idea, then try a fresh example with suitable support. Note any prompts needed; retelling alone does not show secure understanding.

How to study with KS1 PE — Module 3: Ball skills

This parent guide links the page examples with a usable study routine. The listed resource is labelled Physical Education, Key Stage 1, Year 1, Year 2, E-Learning Module. Use that framework, the learning summary and published prompts to decide what effective work should demonstrate.

Prepare a focused session

Read the title and learning focus together. Ask the learner to anticipate the knowledge, language or method they may need. Scan each sample and recognise command words, quantities, hints, limits or unfamiliar terms. Agree a focused time window, reduce interruptions and prepare suitable materials such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an independent initial attempt so the response indicates sound understanding and gaps. A quiet pause often aids recall better than an same-session answer.

Make thinking visible

Invite the learner to restate the task in their own words. They can underline key information, divide a complex problem into shorter steps, draw a representation, organise support, compose a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their route fits and whether another strategy could work. When work stops, provide a carefully scaled hint: state again the goal, point towards a related example, narrow the choice, then model only the next step. Return ownership directly afterwards. Spoken reasoning reveals confusions and practises correct subject language.

Check accuracy and understanding

Compare the attempt with visible answer guidance after genuine effort. Inspect more than the final response: review the method, explanation, units, support, sequence, spelling or presentation where related. Ask the learner to identify the initial point where their reasoning changed path. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or new space, followed by a concise note of the change. For a correct answer, ask for reasoning and one independent check. This separates assured knowledge from guessing while developing accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.

Consolidate and extend

Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the central idea, process or fact again. Create one small variation by adjusting a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a similar question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one clear next step, perhaps returning to terminology, rehearsing a calculation, adding support or improving clarity. Recheck that target again in the week because spaced review gives clearer information than same-session repetition.

The interactive player, downloadable file and make answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide aids preparation, discussion and review.

Sample questions and answers

Try five questions from this exact activity. Review each authored answer and explanation, then note which ideas need another look. Compare the options and explain why the answer fits. Say the reasoning aloud or write a short justification before opening the interactive player to complete the activity and save progress.
