How to check the work
Ask the learner to show or explain one idea, then try a fresh example with suitable support. Note any prompts needed; retelling alone does not show secure understanding.

How to study with KS1 PE — Module 5: Dance & moving to music
This parent guide connects the page examples with a structured study routine. The current resource is labelled Physical Education, Key Stage 1, Year 1, Year 2, E-Learning Module. Use that context, the learning summary and published prompts to agree what successful work should show.
Prepare a focused session
Read the title and learning focus together. Ask the learner to anticipate the ideas, terminology or strategy they may need. Scan each sample and spot command words, values, signals, conditions or new terms. Agree a manageable time window, reduce distractions and prepare suitable materials such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an unaided opening attempt so the work reveals secure understanding and doubt. A short pause often strengthens remembering better than an same-session answer.
Make thinking shown
Invite the learner to describe the task in their own words. They can underline necessary information, break a larger problem into smaller steps, make a representation, organise evidence, rehearse a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their method fits and whether another strategy could work. When work stops, offer a graduated hint: state again the goal, point towards a useful example, narrow the choice, then demonstrate only the next step. Return responsibility immediately afterwards. Spoken reasoning exposes mistakes and practises precise subject language.
Check accuracy and understanding
Compare the attempt with shown answer guidance after sustained effort. Inspect more than the final work: review the method, explanation, units, evidence, sequence, spelling or presentation where useful. Ask the learner to locate the opening point where their reasoning changed direction. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or separate space, followed by a short account of the correction. For a correct answer, seek justification and one unaided check. This distinguishes secure ideas from guessing while developing accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.
Consolidate and extend
Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the main idea, process or fact again. Create one small adaptation by changing a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a related question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one precise next step, perhaps reviewing terminology, rehearsing a calculation, adding evidence or refining clarity. Recheck that target afterwards in the week because spaced review gives better information than same-session repetition.
The interactive player, downloadable file and note answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide strengthens preparation, discussion and review.
Sample questions and answers
Try five questions from this exact activity. Review each authored answer and explanation, then note which ideas need another look. Compare the options and explain why the answer fits. Say the reasoning aloud or write a short justification before opening the interactive player to complete the activity and save progress.
