How to check the work
Ask the learner to show or explain one idea, then try a fresh example with suitable support. Note any prompts needed; retelling alone does not show secure understanding.

How to study with KS1 Physical Education — Module 3: Balance & gymnastics
This parent guide links the page examples with a usable study routine. The present resource is labelled Physical Education, Key Stage 1, Year 1, Year 2, E-Learning Module. Use that context, the learning summary and published prompts to agree what successful work should show.
Prepare a focused session
Read the title and learning focus together. Ask the learner to predict the understanding, terminology or method they may need. Scan each sample and identify action words, values, clues, limits or less familiar terms. Agree a manageable time window, reduce distractions and gather suitable materials such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an independent opening attempt so the attempt reveals firm understanding and gaps. A quiet pause often supports recall better than an instant answer.
Make thinking shown
Invite the learner to describe the task in their own words. They can underline essential information, break a extended problem into smaller steps, design a representation, organise support, rehearse a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their method fits and whether another strategy could work. When progress stops, offer a graduated hint: state again the goal, point towards a relevant example, reduce the choice, then show only the next step. Return control immediately afterwards. Spoken reasoning highlights mistakes and practises clear subject language.
Check accuracy and understanding
Compare the attempt with shown answer guidance after genuine effort. Inspect more than the final attempt: review the method, explanation, units, support, sequence, spelling or presentation where relevant. Ask the learner to locate the opening point where their reasoning changed course. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or new space, followed by a short note of the change. For a correct answer, ask for reasoning and one independent check. This separates confident understanding from guessing while strengthening accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.
Consolidate and extend
Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the core idea, process or fact again. Create one small adaptation by adjusting a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a similar question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one clear next step, perhaps revisiting terminology, practising a calculation, adding support or refining clarity. Recheck that target again in the week because spaced review gives stronger information than instant repetition.
The interactive player, downloadable file and note answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide supports preparation, discussion and review.
Sample questions and answers
Try five questions from this exact activity. Review each authored answer and explanation, then note which ideas need another look. Compare the options and explain why the answer fits. Say the reasoning aloud or write a short justification before opening the interactive player to complete the activity and save progress.
