How to check the work
Ask the learner to show or explain one idea, then try a fresh example with suitable support. Note any prompts needed; retelling alone does not show secure understanding.

How to study with KS1 PSHE — Module 3: Keeping healthy
This parent guide connects the page examples with a practical study routine. The listed resource is labelled PSHE & Citizenship, Key Stage 1, Year 1, Year 2, E-Learning Module. Use that context, the learning summary and published prompts to agree what successful work should demonstrate.
Prepare a focused session
Read the title and learning focus side by side. Ask the learner to recognise the ideas, language or technique they may need. Scan each sample and recognise instruction words, quantities, clues, constraints or less familiar terms. Agree a realistic time window, clear distractions and collect appropriate equipment such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an independent initial attempt so the attempt shows secure understanding and gaps. A quiet pause often aids retrieval better than an instant answer.
Make thinking shown
Invite the learner to summarise the task in their own words. They can underline key information, separate a larger problem into shorter steps, design a show, organise evidence, rehearse a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their approach fits and whether another plan could work. When progress stops, provide a graduated hint: repeat the goal, point towards a useful example, reduce the choice, then show only the next step. Return ownership straight afterwards. Spoken reasoning exposes misconceptions and practises precise subject language.
Check accuracy and understanding
Compare the attempt with shown answer guidance after genuine effort. Inspect more than the final attempt: review the method, explanation, units, evidence, sequence, spelling or presentation where useful. Ask the learner to identify the initial point where their reasoning changed direction. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or fresh space, followed by a short account of the change. For a correct answer, request justification and one independent check. This differentiates secure ideas from guessing while developing accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.
Consolidate and extend
Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the main idea, process or fact again. Create one small variation by changing a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a comparable question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one precise next step, perhaps returning to terminology, rehearsing a calculation, adding evidence or improving clarity. Recheck that target again in the week because spaced review gives better information than instant repetition.
