How to check the work
Ask the learner to show or explain one idea, then try a fresh example with suitable support. Note any prompts needed; retelling alone does not show secure understanding.

How to study with KS1 PSHE — Module 5: Growing & changing
This parent guide connects the page examples with a usable study routine. The listed resource is labelled PSHE & Citizenship, Key Stage 1, Year 1, Year 2, E-Learning Module. Use that setting, the learning summary and published prompts to decide what sound work should demonstrate.
Prepare a focused session
Read the title and learning focus side by side. Ask the learner to recognise the understanding, terminology or plan they may need. Scan each sample and recognise action words, amounts, clues, conditions or new terms. Agree a manageable time window, reduce diversions and collect appropriate materials such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an independent initial attempt so the response indicates sound understanding and gaps. A quiet pause often supports retrieval better than an same-session answer.
Make thinking visible
Invite the learner to restate the task in their own words. They can underline essential information, divide a larger problem into smaller steps, design a model, organise evidence, practise a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their approach fits and whether another plan could work. When work stops, offer a staged hint: state again the goal, point towards a related example, narrow the choice, then model only the next step. Return control straight afterwards. Spoken reasoning exposes misconceptions and practises correct subject language.
Check accuracy and understanding
Compare the attempt with visible answer guidance after honest effort. Inspect more than the final response: review the method, explanation, units, evidence, sequence, spelling or presentation where related. Ask the learner to locate the initial point where their reasoning changed path. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or new space, followed by a short note of the improvement. For a correct answer, ask for reasoning and one independent check. This differentiates assured understanding from guessing while building accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.
Consolidate and extend
Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the main idea, process or fact again. Create one small variation by altering a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a similar question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one clear next step, perhaps reviewing terminology, rehearsing a calculation, adding evidence or improving clarity. Recheck that target afterwards in the week because spaced review gives stronger information than same-session repetition.
The interactive player, downloadable file and record answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide supports preparation, discussion and review.
Sample questions and answers
Try five questions from this exact activity. Review each authored answer and explanation, then note which ideas need another look. Compare the options and explain why the answer fits. Say the reasoning aloud or write a short justification before opening the interactive player to complete the activity and save progress.
