How to check the work
Ask the learner to show or explain one idea, then try a fresh example with suitable support. Note any prompts needed; retelling alone does not show secure understanding.

How to study with KS1 PSHE — Module 5: Our bodies & hygiene
This parent guide relates the page examples with a practical study routine. The current resource is labelled PSHE & Citizenship, Key Stage 1, Year 1, Year 2, E-Learning Module. Use that framework, the learning summary and published prompts to clarify what secure work should reveal.
Prepare a focused session
Read the title and learning focus side by side. Ask the learner to identify the understanding, vocabulary or method they may need. Scan each sample and identify command words, quantities, hints, limits or less familiar terms. Agree a realistic time window, clear diversions and gather useful tools such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an independent first attempt so the work shows secure understanding and gaps. A reflective pause often strengthens retrieval better than an instant answer.
Make thinking visible
Invite the learner to describe the task in their own words. They can underline essential information, separate a extended problem into shorter steps, draw a diagram, organise evidence, rehearse a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their approach fits and whether another plan could work. When progress stops, offer a staged hint: repeat the goal, point towards a relevant example, reduce the choice, then demonstrate only the next step. Return control directly afterwards. Spoken reasoning reveals misconceptions and practises accurate subject language.
Check accuracy and understanding
Compare the attempt with visible answer guidance after genuine effort. Inspect more than the final work: review the method, explanation, units, evidence, sequence, spelling or presentation where relevant. Ask the learner to find the first point where their reasoning changed direction. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or separate space, followed by a concise account of the change. For a correct answer, ask for reasoning and one independent check. This separates confident understanding from guessing while building accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.
Consolidate and extend
Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the central idea, process or fact again. Create one small variation by changing a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a related question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one precise next step, perhaps returning to terminology, repeating a calculation, adding evidence or improving clarity. Recheck that target again in the week because spaced review gives better information than instant repetition.
The interactive player, downloadable file and make answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide strengthens preparation, discussion and review.
Sample questions and answers
Try five questions from this exact activity. Review each authored answer and explanation, then note which ideas need another look. Compare the options and explain why the answer fits. Say the reasoning aloud or write a short justification before opening the interactive player to complete the activity and save progress.
