For the student — how to do this

Work through the teaching and activities, then take the check. Score 75% to earn the badge and unlock the next module — you can retake any time.

For parents and carers

Each module unlocks the next only when your child passes at 75%. A pass meets the threshold for this check. Use discussion and further practice to identify what needs revisiting.

For teachers and tutors

Gated revision sequence. Pass mark 75%; results and per-question review feed the heatmap.

How to check the work

Ask the learner to show or explain one idea, then try a fresh example with suitable support. Note any prompts needed; retelling alone does not show secure understanding.

How to study with KS2 Art Design — KS2 Art & Design — Module 6: Sketchbooks & evaluating (Extension)

This parent guide connects the page examples with a practical study routine. The listed resource is labelled Art & Design, Key Stage 2, Year 3, Year 4, E-Learning Module. Use that context, the learning summary and published prompts to decide what successful work should show.

Prepare a focused session

Read the title and learning focus side by side. Ask the learner to identify the knowledge, language or method they may need. Scan each sample and identify command words, values, signals, limits or less familiar terms. Agree a manageable time window, clear distractions and gather appropriate tools such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an independent first attempt so the work indicates sound understanding and doubt. A quiet pause often strengthens retrieval better than an same-session answer.

Make thinking shown

Invite the learner to describe the task in their own words. They can underline key information, break a extended problem into smaller steps, make a diagram, sort evidence, compose a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their method fits and whether another method could work. When movement stops, give a carefully scaled hint: repeat the goal, point towards a relevant example, reduce the choice, then model only the next step. Return control straight afterwards. Spoken reasoning reveals misconceptions and practises correct subject language.

Check accuracy and understanding

Compare the attempt with shown answer guidance after sustained effort. Inspect more than the final work: review the method, explanation, units, evidence, sequence, spelling or presentation where relevant. Ask the learner to identify the first point where their reasoning changed course. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or new space, followed by a brief account of the correction. For a correct answer, seek justification and one independent check. This distinguishes confident knowledge from guessing while developing accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.

Consolidate and extend

Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the core idea, process or fact again. Create one small variation by changing a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a similar question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one clear next step, perhaps revisiting terminology, practising a calculation, adding evidence or refining clarity. Recheck that target later in the week because spaced review gives clearer information than same-session repetition.

The interactive player, downloadable file and capture answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide strengthens preparation, discussion and review.

Sample questions and answers

Try five questions from this exact activity. Review each authored answer and explanation, then note which ideas need another look. Compare the options and explain why the answer fits. Say the reasoning aloud or write a short justification before opening the interactive player to complete the activity and save progress.
