How to check the work
Use any on-screen review after the quiz to discuss one response and a next step. A saved score or time is not a saved mistake-by-mistake report.

How to study with KS2 Design and Technology — KS2 Design & Technology (Years 3–6) — Gated Series — Module 7: Consolidation Test (timed)
This parent guide connects the page examples with a structured study routine. The current resource is labelled Design & Technology, Key Stage 2, Year 3, Year 4, Quiz. Use that setting, the learning summary and published prompts to agree what effective work should demonstrate.
Prepare a focused session
Read the title and learning focus together. Ask the learner to anticipate the knowledge, language or plan they may need. Scan each sample and recognise instruction words, quantities, signals, limits or new terms. Agree a realistic time window, reduce interruptions and collect appropriate materials such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an independent opening attempt so the work shows firm understanding and gaps. A brief pause often strengthens remembering better than an immediate answer.
Make thinking shown
Invite the learner to restate the task in their own words. They can underline necessary information, divide a larger problem into shorter steps, create a model, organise support, practise a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their method fits and whether another plan could work. When work stops, offer a staged hint: rephrase the goal, point towards a useful example, limit the choice, then model only the next step. Return ownership immediately afterwards. Spoken reasoning highlights mistakes and practises accurate subject language.
Check accuracy and understanding
Compare the attempt with shown answer guidance after genuine effort. Inspect more than the final work: review the method, explanation, units, support, sequence, spelling or presentation where useful. Ask the learner to find the opening point where their reasoning changed direction. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or new space, followed by a brief description of the change. For a correct answer, seek support and one independent check. This separates secure knowledge from guessing while strengthening accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.
Consolidate and extend
Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the main idea, process or fact again. Create one small alternative by changing a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a similar question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one precise next step, perhaps returning to terminology, repeating a calculation, adding support or refining clarity. Recheck that target later in the week because spaced review gives stronger information than immediate repetition.
The interactive player, downloadable file and make answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide strengthens preparation, discussion and review.
