How to check the work
Ask the learner to show or explain one idea, then try a fresh example with suitable support. Note any prompts needed; retelling alone does not show secure understanding.

How to study with KS2 French — Module 4: Colours & the classroom
This parent guide connects the page examples with a usable study routine. The current resource is labelled French, Key Stage 2, Year 3, Year 4, E-Learning Module. Use that setting, the learning summary and published prompts to agree what effective work should demonstrate.
Prepare a focused session
Read the title and learning focus side by side. Ask the learner to anticipate the understanding, terminology or method they may need. Scan each sample and recognise action words, values, signals, constraints or new terms. Agree a realistic time window, reduce interruptions and prepare useful tools such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an independent initial attempt so the work indicates firm understanding and doubt. A reflective pause often aids remembering better than an instant answer.
Make thinking published
Invite the learner to describe the task in their own words. They can underline essential information, separate a complex problem into shorter steps, sketch a representation, sort evidence, practise a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their route fits and whether another method could work. When progress stops, provide a carefully scaled hint: repeat the goal, point towards a relevant example, narrow the choice, then demonstrate only the next step. Return control immediately afterwards. Spoken reasoning highlights confusions and practises correct subject language.
Check accuracy and understanding
Compare the attempt with published answer guidance after honest effort. Inspect more than the final work: review the method, explanation, units, evidence, sequence, spelling or presentation where relevant. Ask the learner to identify the initial point where their reasoning changed course. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or new space, followed by a brief account of the improvement. For a correct answer, ask for support and one independent check. This separates assured understanding from guessing while building accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.
Consolidate and extend
Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the core idea, process or fact again. Create one small alternative by adjusting a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a comparable question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one specific next step, perhaps reviewing terminology, rehearsing a calculation, adding evidence or developing clarity. Recheck that target later in the week because spaced review gives better information than instant repetition.
The interactive player, downloadable file and capture answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide aids preparation, discussion and review.
Sample questions and answers
Try five questions from this exact activity. Review each authored answer and explanation, then note which ideas need another look. Compare the options and explain why the answer fits. Say the reasoning aloud or write a short justification before opening the interactive player to complete the activity and save progress.
