For parents and carers

Each module unlocks the next only when your child passes at 80%. A pass meets the threshold for this check. Use discussion and further practice to identify what needs revisiting.

For teachers and tutors

Gated revision sequence. Pass mark 80%; results and per-question review feed the heatmap.

How to check the work

Ask the learner to show or explain one idea, then try a fresh example with suitable support. Note any prompts needed; retelling alone does not show secure understanding.

How to study with KS2 PE — Module 4: Skills

This parent guide relates the page examples with a usable study routine. The listed resource is labelled Physical Education, Key Stage 2, Year 3, Year 4, E-Learning Module. Use that framework, the learning summary and published prompts to clarify what secure work should show.

Prepare a focused session

Read the title and learning focus jointly. Ask the learner to anticipate the knowledge, language or technique they may need. Scan each sample and identify action words, quantities, hints, conditions or unfamiliar terms. Agree a focused time window, reduce diversions and gather appropriate tools such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an unaided initial attempt so the work reveals secure understanding and doubt. A quiet pause often aids remembering better than an instant answer.

Make thinking published

Invite the learner to describe the task in their own words. They can underline necessary information, break a extended problem into smaller steps, draw a demonstrate, arrange support, compose a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their method fits and whether another method could work. When work stops, offer a staged hint: rephrase the goal, point towards a related example, limit the choice, then demonstrate only the next step. Return ownership immediately afterwards. Spoken reasoning highlights mistakes and practises accurate subject language.

Check accuracy and understanding

Compare the attempt with published answer guidance after genuine effort. Inspect more than the final work: review the method, explanation, units, support, sequence, spelling or presentation where related. Ask the learner to identify the initial point where their reasoning changed path. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or new space, followed by a concise description of the change. For a correct answer, ask for support and one unaided check. This distinguishes secure knowledge from guessing while developing accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.

Consolidate and extend

Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the core idea, process or fact again. Create one small alternative by altering a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a similar question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one specific next step, perhaps reviewing terminology, practising a calculation, adding support or improving clarity. Recheck that target later in the week because spaced review gives better information than instant repetition.

The interactive player, downloadable file and complete answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide aids preparation, discussion and review.

Sample questions and answers

Try five questions from this exact activity. Review each authored answer and explanation, then note which ideas need another look. Compare the options and explain why the answer fits. Say the reasoning aloud or write a short justification before opening the interactive player to complete the activity and save progress.
