How to check the work
Ask the learner to show or explain one idea, then try a fresh example with suitable support. Note any prompts needed; retelling alone does not show secure understanding.

How to study with KS3 German — Module 4: School
This parent guide relates the page examples with a structured study routine. The present resource is labelled German, Key Stage 3, Year 7, Year 8, E-Learning Module. Use that framework, the learning summary and published prompts to clarify what effective work should show.
Prepare a focused session
Read the title and learning focus side by side. Ask the learner to predict the understanding, vocabulary or strategy they may need. Scan each sample and identify instruction words, amounts, signals, constraints or unfamiliar terms. Agree a focused time window, remove diversions and collect suitable tools such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an self-directed initial attempt so the attempt reveals secure understanding and uncertainty. A reflective pause often aids recall better than an same-session answer.
Make thinking shown
Invite the learner to restate the task in their own words. They can underline essential information, divide a extended problem into smaller steps, draw a diagram, organise details, rehearse a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their method fits and whether another strategy could work. When work stops, give a carefully scaled hint: repeat the goal, point towards a related example, reduce the choice, then model only the next step. Return responsibility straight afterwards. Spoken reasoning highlights confusions and practises accurate subject language.
Check accuracy and understanding
Compare the attempt with shown answer guidance after honest effort. Inspect more than the final attempt: review the method, explanation, units, details, sequence, spelling or presentation where related. Ask the learner to locate the initial point where their reasoning changed course. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or new space, followed by a short account of the change. For a correct answer, seek reasoning and one self-directed check. This differentiates assured understanding from guessing while strengthening accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.
Consolidate and extend
Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the core idea, process or fact again. Create one small adaptation by altering a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a similar question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one specific next step, perhaps reviewing terminology, repeating a calculation, adding details or refining clarity. Recheck that target afterwards in the week because spaced review gives stronger information than same-session repetition.
The interactive player, downloadable file and complete answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide aids preparation, discussion and review.
Sample questions and answers
Try five questions from this exact activity. Review each authored answer and explanation, then note which ideas need another look. Compare the options and explain why the answer fits. Say the reasoning aloud or write a short justification before opening the interactive player to complete the activity and save progress.
