How to check the work
Ask the learner to show or explain one idea, then try a fresh example with suitable support. Note any prompts needed; retelling alone does not show secure understanding.

How to study with KS3 Maths — Module 4: Algebra
This parent guide relates the page examples with a usable study routine. The current resource is labelled Mathematics, Key Stage 3, Year 7, Year 8, E-Learning Module. Use that setting, the learning summary and published prompts to agree what effective work should demonstrate.
Prepare a focused session
Read the title and learning focus together. Ask the learner to anticipate the knowledge, language or technique they may need. Scan each sample and spot command words, values, hints, conditions or new terms. Agree a manageable time window, remove distractions and collect appropriate equipment such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an self-directed first attempt so the response reveals firm understanding and gaps. A brief pause often strengthens recall better than an immediate answer.
Make thinking shown
Invite the learner to summarise the task in their own words. They can underline key information, break a complex problem into shorter steps, draw a representation, organise support, practise a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their method fits and whether another strategy could work. When work stops, give a carefully scaled hint: repeat the goal, point towards a related example, reduce the choice, then show only the next step. Return ownership immediately afterwards. Spoken reasoning exposes mistakes and practises specific subject language.
Check accuracy and understanding
Compare the attempt with shown answer guidance after sustained effort. Inspect more than the final response: review the method, explanation, units, support, sequence, spelling or presentation where related. Ask the learner to locate the first point where their reasoning changed direction. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or separate space, followed by a brief account of the improvement. For a correct answer, seek support and one self-directed check. This differentiates assured knowledge from guessing while strengthening accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.
Consolidate and extend
Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the central idea, process or fact again. Create one small alternative by altering a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a comparable question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one specific next step, perhaps returning to terminology, rehearsing a calculation, adding support or improving clarity. Recheck that target later in the week because spaced review gives stronger information than immediate repetition.
The interactive player, downloadable file and complete answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide strengthens preparation, discussion and review.
Sample questions and answers
Try five questions from this exact activity. Review each authored answer and explanation, then note which ideas need another look. Compare the options and explain why the answer fits. Say the reasoning aloud or write a short justification before opening the interactive player to complete the activity and save progress.
