How to check the work
Ask the learner to show or explain one idea, then try a fresh example with suitable support. Note any prompts needed; retelling alone does not show secure understanding.

How to study with KS3 PSHE & RSE — Module 4: Healthy lifestyles
This parent guide relates the page examples with a practical study routine. The present resource is labelled PSHE & Citizenship, Key Stage 3, Year 7, Year 8, E-Learning Module. Use that context, the learning summary and published prompts to agree what firm work should demonstrate.
Prepare a focused session
Read the title and learning focus side by side. Ask the learner to spot the understanding, vocabulary or technique they may need. Scan each sample and spot instruction words, amounts, signals, conditions or unfamiliar terms. Agree a realistic time window, remove interruptions and collect suitable materials such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an unaided opening attempt so the response indicates firm understanding and gaps. A short pause often supports retrieval better than an immediate answer.
Make thinking visible
Invite the learner to describe the task in their own words. They can underline necessary information, break a extended problem into individual steps, make a representation, organise support, practise a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their route fits and whether another strategy could work. When movement stops, give a carefully scaled hint: rephrase the goal, point towards a related example, narrow the choice, then model only the next step. Return ownership straight afterwards. Spoken reasoning reveals misconceptions and practises accurate subject language.
Check accuracy and understanding
Compare the attempt with visible answer guidance after sustained effort. Inspect more than the final response: review the method, explanation, units, support, sequence, spelling or presentation where related. Ask the learner to identify the opening point where their reasoning changed course. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or fresh space, followed by a short note of the improvement. For a correct answer, seek reasoning and one unaided check. This separates confident understanding from guessing while building accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.
Consolidate and extend
Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the core idea, process or fact again. Create one small variation by altering a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a similar question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one specific next step, perhaps revisiting terminology, repeating a calculation, adding support or developing clarity. Recheck that target later in the week because spaced review gives better information than immediate repetition.
The interactive player, downloadable file and complete answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide supports preparation, discussion and review.
