For parents and carers

Each module unlocks the next only when your child passes at 70%. A pass meets the threshold for this check. Use discussion and further practice to identify what needs revisiting.

For teachers and tutors

Gated revision sequence. Pass mark 70%; results and per-question review feed the heatmap.

How to check the work

Ask the learner to show or explain one idea, then try a fresh example with suitable support. Note any prompts needed; retelling alone does not show secure understanding.

How to study with KS1 Music — KS1 Music — Module 5: Singing (Extension)

This parent guide links the page examples with a usable study routine. The listed resource is labelled Music, Key Stage 1, Year 1, Year 2, E-Learning Module. Use that context, the learning summary and published prompts to decide what successful work should show.

Prepare a focused session

Read the title and learning focus side by side. Ask the learner to predict the understanding, language or technique they may need. Scan each sample and recognise instruction words, amounts, hints, conditions or less familiar terms. Agree a focused time window, clear distractions and gather appropriate equipment such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an unaided first attempt so the response indicates sound understanding and uncertainty. A reflective pause often aids recall better than an instant answer.

Make thinking published

Invite the learner to summarise the task in their own words. They can underline necessary information, break a extended problem into individual steps, draw a model, arrange evidence, compose a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their approach fits and whether another plan could work. When movement stops, offer a graduated hint: repeat the goal, point towards a related example, narrow the choice, then model only the next step. Return ownership immediately afterwards. Spoken reasoning exposes mistakes and practises accurate subject language.

Check accuracy and understanding

Compare the attempt with published answer guidance after honest effort. Inspect more than the final response: review the method, explanation, units, evidence, sequence, spelling or presentation where related. Ask the learner to identify the first point where their reasoning changed course. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or new space, followed by a brief note of the improvement. For a correct answer, ask for support and one unaided check. This distinguishes secure understanding from guessing while strengthening accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.

Consolidate and extend

Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the central idea, process or fact again. Create one small variation by changing a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a related question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one precise next step, perhaps reviewing terminology, rehearsing a calculation, adding evidence or improving clarity. Recheck that target later in the week because spaced review gives clearer information than instant repetition.

The interactive player, downloadable file and complete answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide aids preparation, discussion and review.

Sample questions and answers

Try five questions from this exact activity. Review each authored answer and explanation, then note which ideas need another look. Compare the options and explain why the answer fits. Say the reasoning aloud or write a short justification before opening the interactive player to complete the activity and save progress.
