Photography Explorer KS3
Photography Explorer is a five-mission KS3 art activity book mapped to the DfE National Curriculum for Art & Design. Students learn the composition rules photographers use — the rule of thirds, leading lines, framing, symmetry and viewpoint (bird’s-eye and worm’s-eye) — then explore natural and artificial lighting, silhouettes, shadows, focus and depth, and how a camera captures light. They name the main genres (portrait, landscape, still life, macro and documentary), meet editing basics such as crop, contrast and black & white, and finish by analysing a real photograph and planning their own photoshoot to use as source material for art. Knowledge questions are auto-marked on screen; the analysis and planning missions are open and printable, with a full answer key. Includes teacher, parent and pupil notes and is fully SEND-friendly with high-contrast and large-text modes.
