This parent guide relates the page examples with a structured study routine. The present resource is labelled Business, ks4, Year 11, Colour and Observe. Use that framework, the learning summary and published prompts to clarify what secure work should show.
Prepare a focused session
Read the title and learning focus side by side. Ask the learner to recognise the knowledge, vocabulary or strategy they may need. Scan each sample and recognise instruction words, values, clues, constraints or less familiar terms. Agree a focused time window, reduce interruptions and prepare appropriate tools such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an independent first attempt so the attempt indicates secure understanding and uncertainty. A reflective pause often supports recall better than an instant answer.
Make thinking published
Invite the learner to summarise the task in their own words. They can underline necessary information, separate a extended problem into shorter steps, draw a diagram, arrange evidence, rehearse a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their method fits and whether another strategy could work. When movement stops, give a staged hint: state again the goal, point towards a related example, reduce the choice, then show only the next step. Return ownership immediately afterwards. Spoken reasoning exposes misconceptions and practises correct subject language.
Check accuracy and understanding
Compare the attempt with published answer guidance after sustained effort. Inspect more than the final attempt: review the method, explanation, units, evidence, sequence, spelling or presentation where related. Ask the learner to find the first point where their reasoning changed path. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or fresh space, followed by a short description of the change. For a correct answer, seek reasoning and one independent check. This differentiates assured knowledge from guessing while building accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.
Consolidate and extend
Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the core idea, process or fact again. Create one small variation by changing a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a comparable question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one precise next step, perhaps revisiting terminology, practising a calculation, adding evidence or refining clarity. Recheck that target later in the week because spaced review gives stronger information than instant repetition.
The interactive player, downloadable file and complete answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide supports preparation, discussion and review.
