The 8-bit pattern 01000001 represents decimal 65 as an unsigned integer and often the character A in ASCII. The same bits could mean something else under another encoding. Images use binary-coded pixel values; digital sound stores sampled amplitude values. Binary digits carry meaning only through representation rules and metadata.
