Listening & Appraising KS3 is a five-mission Year 7 music activity book mapped to the DfE National Curriculum for Key Stage 3 Music. Pupils learn the elements of music (pitch, tempo, dynamics, timbre, texture, structure and rhythm), sort instruments into families (strings, woodwind, brass, percussion and keyboard), recognise styles and periods from Baroque, Classical and Romantic to pop, jazz, blues, reggae and world music, and learn Italian terms such as forte, piano, allegro and adagio. Two open missions ask pupils to listen to a real piece and describe and evaluate (appraise) it using the correct vocabulary. Auto-marked questions are checked instantly on screen, or the whole book can be printed with a full answer key. Includes teacher, parent and pupil notes and is fully SEND-friendly with high-contrast and large-text modes.
