How to check the work
Use any on-screen review after the quiz to discuss one response and a next step. A saved score or time is not a saved mistake-by-mistake report.

How to study with KS2 Computing (Years 3-6) — Gated Series — Module 7: Consolidation Test (timed)
This parent guide links the page examples with a usable study routine. The current resource is labelled Computing, Key Stage 2, Year 3, Year 4, Quiz. Use that framework, the learning summary and published prompts to clarify what successful work should reveal.
Prepare a focused session
Read the title and learning focus side by side. Ask the learner to predict the understanding, vocabulary or method they may need. Scan each sample and recognise instruction words, amounts, clues, constraints or less familiar terms. Agree a focused time window, reduce interruptions and gather appropriate materials such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an unaided first attempt so the attempt shows secure understanding and uncertainty. A concise pause often aids remembering better than an immediate answer.
Make thinking shown
Invite the learner to restate the task in their own words. They can underline essential information, divide a complex problem into shorter steps, draw a diagram, sort support, practise a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their route fits and whether another plan could work. When progress stops, provide a staged hint: rephrase the goal, point towards a relevant example, reduce the choice, then demonstrate only the next step. Return ownership immediately afterwards. Spoken reasoning highlights mistakes and practises correct subject language.
Check accuracy and understanding
Compare the attempt with shown answer guidance after sustained effort. Inspect more than the final attempt: review the method, explanation, units, support, sequence, spelling or presentation where relevant. Ask the learner to identify the first point where their reasoning changed direction. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or separate space, followed by a concise account of the change. For a correct answer, request reasoning and one unaided check. This differentiates assured understanding from guessing while building accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.
Consolidate and extend
Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the core idea, process or fact again. Create one small variation by adjusting a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a similar question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one specific next step, perhaps reviewing terminology, practising a calculation, adding support or refining clarity. Recheck that target afterwards in the week because spaced review gives clearer information than immediate repetition.
The interactive player, downloadable file and make answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide aids preparation, discussion and review.
