How to check the work
Ask the learner to show or explain one idea, then try a fresh example with suitable support. Note any prompts needed; retelling alone does not show secure understanding.

How to study with KS2 French — Module 5: Food & drink
This parent guide links the page examples with a usable study routine. The current resource is labelled French, Key Stage 2, Year 3, Year 4, E-Learning Module. Use that context, the learning summary and published prompts to clarify what secure work should demonstrate.
Prepare a focused session
Read the title and learning focus together. Ask the learner to predict the ideas, terminology or method they may need. Scan each sample and recognise command words, amounts, signals, conditions or unfamiliar terms. Agree a manageable time window, clear diversions and prepare useful tools such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an independent opening attempt so the attempt shows secure understanding and doubt. A brief pause often supports recall better than an same-session answer.
Make thinking shown
Invite the learner to restate the task in their own words. They can underline key information, break a extended problem into individual steps, make a representation, sort support, rehearse a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their route fits and whether another method could work. When movement stops, offer a staged hint: rephrase the goal, point towards a related example, limit the choice, then show only the next step. Return control directly afterwards. Spoken reasoning exposes misconceptions and practises accurate subject language.
Check accuracy and understanding
Compare the attempt with shown answer guidance after honest effort. Inspect more than the final attempt: review the method, explanation, units, support, sequence, spelling or presentation where related. Ask the learner to locate the opening point where their reasoning changed course. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or new space, followed by a brief account of the improvement. For a correct answer, ask for support and one independent check. This distinguishes confident ideas from guessing while developing accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.
Consolidate and extend
Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the main idea, process or fact again. Create one small adaptation by changing a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a comparable question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one clear next step, perhaps reviewing terminology, repeating a calculation, adding support or developing clarity. Recheck that target later in the week because spaced review gives clearer information than same-session repetition.
The interactive player, downloadable file and note answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide supports preparation, discussion and review.
Sample questions and answers
Try five questions from this exact activity. Review each authored answer and explanation, then note which ideas need another look. Compare the options and explain why the answer fits. Say the reasoning aloud or write a short justification before opening the interactive player to complete the activity and save progress.
