How to check the work
Ask the learner to show or explain one idea, then try a fresh example with suitable support. Note any prompts needed; retelling alone does not show secure understanding.

How to study with KS2 PE — Module 5: Gymnastics & dance
This parent guide links the page examples with a usable study routine. The listed resource is labelled Physical Education, Key Stage 2, Year 3, Year 4, E-Learning Module. Use that framework, the learning summary and published prompts to decide what effective work should demonstrate.
Prepare a focused session
Read the title and learning focus side by side. Ask the learner to predict the ideas, vocabulary or method they may need. Scan each sample and recognise action words, amounts, clues, limits or less familiar terms. Agree a focused time window, clear diversions and prepare suitable tools such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an independent first attempt so the response reveals secure understanding and doubt. A reflective pause often supports retrieval better than an immediate answer.
Make thinking visible
Invite the learner to restate the task in their own words. They can underline key information, break a larger problem into individual steps, sketch a show, arrange details, rehearse a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their route fits and whether another plan could work. When work stops, offer a graduated hint: rephrase the goal, point towards a useful example, narrow the choice, then show only the next step. Return responsibility immediately afterwards. Spoken reasoning highlights confusions and practises accurate subject language.
Check accuracy and understanding
Compare the attempt with visible answer guidance after sustained effort. Inspect more than the final response: review the method, explanation, units, details, sequence, spelling or presentation where useful. Ask the learner to identify the first point where their reasoning changed path. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or fresh space, followed by a brief note of the change. For a correct answer, ask for reasoning and one independent check. This distinguishes assured ideas from guessing while strengthening accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.
Consolidate and extend
Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the main idea, process or fact again. Create one small adaptation by changing a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a related question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one precise next step, perhaps reviewing terminology, repeating a calculation, adding details or developing clarity. Recheck that target afterwards in the week because spaced review gives better information than immediate repetition.
The interactive player, downloadable file and complete answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide supports preparation, discussion and review.
