How to check the work
Ask the learner to show or explain one idea, then try a fresh example with suitable support. Note any prompts needed; retelling alone does not show secure understanding.

How to study with KS3 Maths — Module 5: Geometry & measures
This parent guide connects the page examples with a practical study routine. The present resource is labelled Mathematics, Key Stage 3, Year 7, Year 8, E-Learning Module. Use that setting, the learning summary and published prompts to decide what effective work should demonstrate.
Prepare a focused session
Read the title and learning focus together. Ask the learner to anticipate the understanding, terminology or plan they may need. Scan each sample and identify action words, values, hints, conditions or unfamiliar terms. Agree a realistic time window, clear distractions and collect suitable materials such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an independent initial attempt so the work shows secure understanding and uncertainty. A concise pause often strengthens remembering better than an immediate answer.
Make thinking published
Invite the learner to restate the task in their own words. They can underline essential information, break a larger problem into smaller steps, draw a model, arrange support, rehearse a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their approach fits and whether another plan could work. When movement stops, offer a graduated hint: repeat the goal, point towards a relevant example, reduce the choice, then model only the next step. Return responsibility directly afterwards. Spoken reasoning highlights confusions and practises precise subject language.
Check accuracy and understanding
Compare the attempt with published answer guidance after genuine effort. Inspect more than the final work: review the method, explanation, units, support, sequence, spelling or presentation where relevant. Ask the learner to identify the initial point where their reasoning changed course. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or new space, followed by a concise account of the correction. For a correct answer, request support and one independent check. This distinguishes assured understanding from guessing while strengthening accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.
Consolidate and extend
Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the core idea, process or fact again. Create one small adaptation by changing a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a similar question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one precise next step, perhaps reviewing terminology, practising a calculation, adding support or improving clarity. Recheck that target later in the week because spaced review gives stronger information than immediate repetition.
The interactive player, downloadable file and make answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide strengthens preparation, discussion and review.
