How to check the work
Ask the learner to show or explain one idea, then try a fresh example with suitable support. Note any prompts needed; retelling alone does not show secure understanding.

How to study with KS3 Maths — Module 6: Statistics & probability
This parent guide relates the page examples with a structured study routine. The listed resource is labelled Mathematics, Key Stage 3, Year 7, Year 8, E-Learning Module. Use that context, the learning summary and published prompts to clarify what effective work should demonstrate.
Prepare a focused session
Read the title and learning focus side by side. Ask the learner to identify the ideas, terminology or plan they may need. Scan each sample and identify instruction words, values, hints, limits or less familiar terms. Agree a manageable time window, clear distractions and gather suitable equipment such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an unaided opening attempt so the work shows sound understanding and doubt. A short pause often aids remembering better than an same-session answer.
Make thinking published
Invite the learner to restate the task in their own words. They can underline necessary information, break a complex problem into smaller steps, draw a show, organise support, rehearse a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their method fits and whether another plan could work. When movement stops, provide a staged hint: state again the goal, point towards a useful example, limit the choice, then show only the next step. Return responsibility straight afterwards. Spoken reasoning exposes mistakes and practises accurate subject language.
Check accuracy and understanding
Compare the attempt with published answer guidance after genuine effort. Inspect more than the final work: review the method, explanation, units, support, sequence, spelling or presentation where useful. Ask the learner to identify the opening point where their reasoning changed path. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or fresh space, followed by a short description of the correction. For a correct answer, ask for support and one unaided check. This separates confident ideas from guessing while developing accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.
Consolidate and extend
Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the main idea, process or fact again. Create one small variation by adjusting a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a similar question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one precise next step, perhaps revisiting terminology, rehearsing a calculation, adding support or refining clarity. Recheck that target again in the week because spaced review gives clearer information than same-session repetition.
The interactive player, downloadable file and complete answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide aids preparation, discussion and review.
Sample questions and answers
Try five questions from this exact activity. Review each authored answer and explanation, then note which ideas need another look. Compare the options and explain why the answer fits. Say the reasoning aloud or write a short justification before opening the interactive player to complete the activity and save progress.
