How to check the work

Ask the learner to show or explain one idea, then try a fresh example with suitable support. Note any prompts needed; retelling alone does not show secure understanding.

How to study with KS3 PE — Module 3: Health & wellbeing

This parent guide relates the page examples with a practical study routine. The present resource is labelled Physical Education, Key Stage 3, Year 7, Year 8, E-Learning Module. Use that framework, the learning summary and published prompts to clarify what effective work should show.

Prepare a focused session

Read the title and learning focus together. Ask the learner to anticipate the ideas, vocabulary or method they may need. Scan each sample and spot action words, values, signals, conditions or less familiar terms. Agree a manageable time window, remove distractions and prepare useful tools such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an unaided first attempt so the response indicates firm understanding and uncertainty. A brief pause often strengthens remembering better than an immediate answer.

Make thinking visible

Invite the learner to describe the task in their own words. They can underline essential information, separate a extended problem into shorter steps, draw a demonstrate, organise evidence, rehearse a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their route fits and whether another plan could work. When progress stops, give a graduated hint: repeat the goal, point towards a useful example, narrow the choice, then demonstrate only the next step. Return control directly afterwards. Spoken reasoning reveals confusions and practises clear subject language.

Check accuracy and understanding

Compare the attempt with visible answer guidance after honest effort. Inspect more than the final response: review the method, explanation, units, evidence, sequence, spelling or presentation where useful. Ask the learner to identify the first point where their reasoning changed course. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or fresh space, followed by a brief note of the correction. For a correct answer, request support and one unaided check. This differentiates assured ideas from guessing while strengthening accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.

Consolidate and extend

Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the central idea, process or fact again. Create one small alternative by altering a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a comparable question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one clear next step, perhaps reviewing terminology, practising a calculation, adding evidence or improving clarity. Recheck that target later in the week because spaced review gives clearer information than immediate repetition.

The interactive player, downloadable file and complete answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide strengthens preparation, discussion and review.

Sample questions and answers

Try five questions from this exact activity. Review each authored answer and explanation, then note which ideas need another look. Compare the options and explain why the answer fits. Say the reasoning aloud or write a short justification before opening the interactive player to complete the activity and save progress.
