This parent guide links the page examples with a usable study routine. The listed resource is labelled Physics, Key Stage 3, Year 7, Year 8, Activity Book. Use that framework, the learning summary and published prompts to agree what firm work should show.
Prepare a focused session
Read the title and learning focus together. Ask the learner to anticipate the ideas, language or method they may need. Scan each sample and identify command words, amounts, clues, constraints or unfamiliar terms. Agree a manageable time window, reduce diversions and prepare suitable equipment such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an independent initial attempt so the attempt indicates firm understanding and uncertainty. A quiet pause often strengthens retrieval better than an immediate answer.
Make thinking shown
Invite the learner to describe the task in their own words. They can underline key information, separate a complex problem into individual steps, draw a representation, arrange details, compose a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their method fits and whether another plan could work. When movement stops, give a carefully scaled hint: repeat the goal, point towards a related example, narrow the choice, then model only the next step. Return ownership straight afterwards. Spoken reasoning exposes confusions and practises clear subject language.
Check accuracy and understanding
Compare the attempt with shown answer guidance after sustained effort. Inspect more than the final attempt: review the method, explanation, units, details, sequence, spelling or presentation where related. Ask the learner to find the initial point where their reasoning changed direction. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or separate space, followed by a concise note of the change. For a correct answer, request reasoning and one independent check. This separates assured ideas from guessing while strengthening accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.
Consolidate and extend
Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the core idea, process or fact again. Create one small variation by changing a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a related question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one clear next step, perhaps reviewing terminology, practising a calculation, adding details or refining clarity. Recheck that target again in the week because spaced review gives clearer information than immediate repetition.
The interactive player, downloadable file and make answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide strengthens preparation, discussion and review.
