This parent guide relates the page examples with a structured study routine. The current resource is labelled Physics, Key Stage 3, Year 7, Year 8, Activity Book. Use that context, the learning summary and published prompts to agree what successful work should show.
Prepare a focused session
Read the title and learning focus together. Ask the learner to predict the understanding, vocabulary or technique they may need. Scan each sample and spot command words, quantities, hints, conditions or new terms. Agree a manageable time window, reduce distractions and gather useful materials such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an independent first attempt so the attempt indicates firm understanding and doubt. A reflective pause often aids recall better than an same-session answer.
Make thinking shown
Invite the learner to summarise the task in their own words. They can underline necessary information, separate a larger problem into shorter steps, draw a diagram, arrange details, practise a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their method fits and whether another plan could work. When work stops, provide a graduated hint: state again the goal, point towards a related example, reduce the choice, then show only the next step. Return responsibility immediately afterwards. Spoken reasoning highlights mistakes and practises accurate subject language.
Check accuracy and understanding
Compare the attempt with shown answer guidance after genuine effort. Inspect more than the final attempt: review the method, explanation, units, details, sequence, spelling or presentation where related. Ask the learner to identify the first point where their reasoning changed course. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or new space, followed by a concise account of the change. For a correct answer, seek justification and one independent check. This separates confident understanding from guessing while strengthening accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.
Consolidate and extend
Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the central idea, process or fact again. Create one small variation by adjusting a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a related question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one clear next step, perhaps reviewing terminology, repeating a calculation, adding details or refining clarity. Recheck that target afterwards in the week because spaced review gives stronger information than same-session repetition.
The interactive player, downloadable file and make answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide aids preparation, discussion and review.
