How to check the work
Use any on-screen review after the quiz to discuss one response and a next step. A saved score or time is not a saved mistake-by-mistake report.

How to study with KS2 French — KS2 French (Years 3–6) — Gated Series — Module 7: Consolidation Test (timed)
This parent guide connects the page examples with a usable study routine. The current resource is labelled French, Key Stage 2, Year 3, Year 4, Quiz. Use that framework, the learning summary and published prompts to clarify what successful work should demonstrate.
Prepare a focused session
Read the title and learning focus side by side. Ask the learner to anticipate the knowledge, language or technique they may need. Scan each sample and recognise instruction words, values, clues, constraints or unfamiliar terms. Agree a realistic time window, remove distractions and collect suitable materials such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an independent first attempt so the response reveals firm understanding and gaps. A short pause often strengthens remembering better than an same-session answer.
Make thinking published
Invite the learner to describe the task in their own words. They can underline key information, separate a extended problem into smaller steps, create a model, organise details, rehearse a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their route fits and whether another strategy could work. When movement stops, provide a graduated hint: rephrase the goal, point towards a relevant example, reduce the choice, then model only the next step. Return ownership directly afterwards. Spoken reasoning exposes confusions and practises clear subject language.
Check accuracy and understanding
Compare the attempt with published answer guidance after genuine effort. Inspect more than the final response: review the method, explanation, units, details, sequence, spelling or presentation where relevant. Ask the learner to find the first point where their reasoning changed path. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or new space, followed by a short account of the improvement. For a correct answer, request support and one independent check. This separates secure knowledge from guessing while strengthening accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.
Consolidate and extend
Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the central idea, process or fact again. Create one small variation by changing a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a comparable question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one clear next step, perhaps returning to terminology, practising a calculation, adding details or developing clarity. Recheck that target later in the week because spaced review gives clearer information than same-session repetition.
The interactive player, downloadable file and note answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide strengthens preparation, discussion and review.
