KS1 English: Reading Comprehension — Challenge is a greater-depth stretch activity book for Years 1–2 reading comprehension, mapped to the DfE National Curriculum. Built around one longer, brand-new mystery story, “The Mysterious Footprints”, four demanding challenges push confident readers through hunting for small factual details, linking clues across the story to make harder inferences, working out trickier vocabulary such as trudged, fret and relieved, and putting a longer sequence of events in order before summarising the whole story. Challenges 1–4 hold around seventeen auto-marked questions; Challenge 5 is an open extended-writing task planning and writing what happens next, with a full worked answer key. Includes teacher, parent and pupil notes and is fully SEND-friendly with high-contrast and large-text modes.
