This parent guide links the page examples with a usable study routine. The present resource is labelled Spanish, GCSE, Year 11, Mock Practice Paper. Use that framework, the learning summary and published prompts to agree what successful work should show.
Prepare a focused session
Read the title and learning focus jointly. Ask the learner to recognise the knowledge, language or technique they may need. Scan each sample and recognise instruction words, values, signals, constraints or less familiar terms. Agree a realistic time window, reduce diversions and gather appropriate materials such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an unaided initial attempt so the attempt shows secure understanding and uncertainty. A brief pause often aids retrieval better than an same-session answer.
Make thinking shown
Invite the learner to describe the task in their own words. They can underline key information, break a larger problem into smaller steps, make a representation, arrange evidence, compose a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their method fits and whether another strategy could work. When movement stops, provide a carefully scaled hint: repeat the goal, point towards a relevant example, narrow the choice, then demonstrate only the next step. Return responsibility immediately afterwards. Spoken reasoning reveals misconceptions and practises accurate subject language.
Check accuracy and understanding
Compare the attempt with shown answer guidance after honest effort. Inspect more than the final attempt: review the method, explanation, units, evidence, sequence, spelling or presentation where relevant. Ask the learner to find the initial point where their reasoning changed direction. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or fresh space, followed by a brief description of the correction. For a correct answer, ask for justification and one unaided check. This distinguishes secure knowledge from guessing while strengthening accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.
Consolidate and extend
Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the core idea, process or fact again. Create one small variation by changing a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a comparable question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one specific next step, perhaps revisiting terminology, practising a calculation, adding evidence or improving clarity. Recheck that target afterwards in the week because spaced review gives better information than same-session repetition.
