KS1 Mathematics: Addition and Subtraction — Support
Gentle, scaffolded KS1 addition and subtraction support: small steps through number bonds, adding and subtracting ones, and simple word problems. Auto-marked.
KS1 Mathematics: Addition and Subtraction — Support is a gentle, scaffolded activity book mapped to the DfE National Curriculum and designed to build confidence one skill at a time. Five friendly steps use numbers within 20 and a worked example on every page to practise number bonds to 10, number bonds to 20, adding a 2-digit number and ones, subtracting ones from a 2-digit number, and solving simple one-step word problems. Several questions are multiple choice so the focus stays on the method, and every step is auto-marked on screen with a full answer key, or the whole book can be printed to work through slowly on paper. The tone is warm and encouraging with no pass or fail language.

These five steps take addition and subtraction slowly, one skill at a time. You will practise bonds to 10, bonds to 20, adding and subtracting small numbers, then solve some simple stories. Read the tip first — it always shows you a worked example — then choose or type your answer. I’ll check it with you. There is no rush and no way to fail: just keep trying.
This is a supportive KS1 addition and subtraction workbook with smaller numbers and lots of scaffolding, built to grow confidence. Read each worked-example tip together, then let your child choose or type the answer. Keep it calm and positive — praise the effort and the correct thinking, and come back to the same steps another day. The answer key lets you check every question.
A scaffolded, differentiated-down support book for DfE KS1 addition and subtraction: number bonds to 10 and to 20, adding a 2-digit number and ones, subtracting ones from a 2-digit number (no carrying or exchanging), and simple one-step word problems. One skill per step, numbers kept within 20, plenty of multiple-choice inputs and a worked example in every tip, with a deliberately encouraging, no-pass/fail tone. All steps are auto-marked. Ideal for lower-confidence Year 1 learners or as a first pass before the core addition and subtraction book.
Every step is checked with the "Check my answers" button, which marks each response and gives friendly feedback. Several answers are multiple choice; the rest ask for a small number. Compare against the answer sheet for the full worked results, and re-try any step as often as you like.
