Tricky Words & First Captions (EYFS) is a warm, five-play Reception literacy activity book mapped to the EYFS Literacy Early Learning Goal — Word Reading. Children meet the first tricky (common exception) words — the, to, I, no, go, into, he, she, we, me and be — spot them hiding in short captions, choose the tricky word that completes a sentence, build speedy recall with home-made flash cards, and read their very first captions such as “the cat is on the mat”, drawing pictures to show understanding. Two plays are auto-marked on screen with instant feedback; the rest are hands-on flashing, drawing and word-hunting tasks a grown-up can share, and the whole book can be printed with a full answer key. Gentle and playful with no pass-or-fail tone, taking about fifteen minutes, and fully SEND-friendly with high-contrast and large-text modes.
