Learning business through decisions and evidence
Business studies explores how organisations make decisions about customers, people, operations, finance and growth. Secure the key concept first, then apply it to a named business or realistic scenario. Definitions matter, but higher-quality answers explain why a factor changes a decision and recognise that the same choice may create benefits, costs and risks for different stakeholders.
Use quantitative evidence carefully. Show calculations, include units and interpret what the result means for the decision rather than stopping at a number. When evaluating, set a criterion such as profit, cash flow, market share, employee retention or sustainability, then weigh the most important evidence against it. Current business examples are useful when the source and date are clear; avoid assuming that one famous company represents every business.
Build comparisons from like-for-like evidence. Separate revenue from profit, a cash-flow forecast from a budget, and short-term demand from long-term market growth. When a case study leaves information uncertain, state the assumption and explain how a different outcome would change the recommendation. This makes the judgement traceable rather than simply confident.
