Deep KS1 composition revision: sentence types, joining words but and so, story planning, paragraph writing and editing. Free, auto-marked.

KS1 English: Composition — Deep Revision is the extended-practice set for Years 1–2 composition, mapped to the DfE National Curriculum. Three real-life sections follow: planning a short story with a character, place and problem, writing an original paragraph from that plan, and finally reading the paragraph back to edit and improve it. Sections 1–2 are auto-marked with a full answer key; Sections 3–5 are open, creative writing tasks. Includes teacher, parent and pupil notes and is fully SEND-friendly with high-contrast and large-text modes.

This is a longer, gentler look at composition. You'll sort statements, questions and exclamations, practise joining words but and so, plan your own story, write your own paragraph, then edit and improve it. Answer on screen and I'll check it for you, or print the book and write on paper. Take your time, like a real author!

This is the deep-revision workbook for KS1 composition (Year 1), designed for a longer, relaxed session — feel free to split the 45 minutes across a few short sittings. Talk through the story plan together before Section 4, and sit alongside your child while they read their paragraph back and edit it in Section 5.

The extended-practice set for DfE KS1 composition: identifying statements, questions and exclamations and their end marks, joining ideas with but and so, planning an original story with character, setting and problem, writing an independent paragraph, and editing and improving a piece of writing. Sections 1–2 are auto-marked; Sections 3–5 are open, creative writing tasks. Suitable for a longer guided or independent writing session.

Sections 1 and 2 are checked together with the "Check my answers" button, which marks every response and gives feedback. Sections 3, 4 and 5 are open-ended writing tasks and are not auto-marked — check them against the answer sheet notes.
