How to check the work
Use any on-screen review after the quiz to discuss one response and a next step. A saved score or time is not a saved mistake-by-mistake report.

How to study with KS2 French — KS2 French (Years 3-6) — Gated Series — Module 7: Consolidation Test (timed)
This parent guide relates the page examples with a practical study routine. The listed resource is labelled French, Key Stage 2, Year 3, Year 4, Quiz. Use that setting, the learning summary and published prompts to clarify what effective work should reveal.
Prepare a focused session
Read the title and learning focus side by side. Ask the learner to predict the understanding, terminology or method they may need. Scan each sample and identify action words, amounts, clues, limits or unfamiliar terms. Agree a focused time window, reduce distractions and prepare suitable tools such as paper, pencil, ruler, coloured pens, calculator, headphones or a device. Encourage an self-directed initial attempt so the response indicates secure understanding and doubt. A reflective pause often strengthens recall better than an instant answer.
Make thinking shown
Invite the learner to describe the task in their own words. They can underline key information, separate a complex problem into smaller steps, draw a show, arrange details, compose a sentence or describe a planned method. Ask why their method fits and whether another plan could work. When work stops, offer a graduated hint: rephrase the goal, point towards a relevant example, reduce the choice, then show only the next step. Return control directly afterwards. Spoken reasoning highlights confusions and practises correct subject language.
Check accuracy and understanding
Compare the attempt with shown answer guidance after sustained effort. Inspect more than the final response: review the method, explanation, units, details, sequence, spelling or presentation where relevant. Ask the learner to find the initial point where their reasoning changed direction. Complete corrections actively in a different colour or new space, followed by a short description of the change. For a correct answer, seek support and one self-directed check. This distinguishes assured understanding from guessing while strengthening accuracy, reflection and careful working habits.
Consolidate and extend
Finish with retrieval from memory. Cover the example and ask for the main idea, process or fact again. Create one small alternative by altering a value, condition, example, viewpoint or level of support while keeping the learning focus. Invite the learner to write a similar question and supply checking guidance. Record one success and one precise next step, perhaps reviewing terminology, repeating a calculation, adding details or improving clarity. Recheck that target afterwards in the week because spaced review gives better information than instant repetition.
The interactive player, downloadable file and make answer material retain their existing access controls. The guide strengthens preparation, discussion and review.
