Spelling Detective is a five-case Year 2 English activity book mapped to the DfE National Curriculum for spelling (English Appendix 1). Children crack common exception words, run root words through the suffix factory, decide between -ge and -dge for the /dʒ/ sound, and unmask tricky homophones. This is a Year 2 spelling activity book. Sit alongside your child if you can and use the Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check routine for the tricky words. Reading each homophone sentence out loud together really helps them choose the right spelling.

A five-case Year 2 activity book covering DfE spelling (English Appendix 1): common exception words, the suffixes -ment/-ness/-ful/-less/-ly, the /dʒ/ sound spelt -ge and -dge, and homophones. Cases 1–4 are auto-marked; Case 5 is an open home task. Suitable for guided or independent use.
